Customer Information

At Playhouse we take great care of all garments entrusted to us.  However, we would like to draw your attention to the following:

  • Garments or items with no care label will only be cleaned at the customer's risk, as the results cannot be predicted.

  • Although we cover and protect delicate buttons, we cannot accept responsibility for any damage caused to buttons during the cleaning process, either from reactions to solvent or from mechanical action breakages.

  • We cannot be held responsible for trim or beading that has been added after manufacture and is not covered by the care label in the original garment.  Where possible we will pre-test beads prior to cleaning if there is some doubt about how they may react in solvent.

  • We cannot be held responsible for colour or texture differences when part of a matching suit is sent for cleaning without the other.  Likewise, we will not be responsible for the whole suit where only part of it is handed in for cleaning in the unlikely event of damage or lost items.

  • Items with black and white panels may become greyed after cleaning (or even orange or pink, depending on the dye used during manufacture) due to the migration of loose dye from the black to the white. Whilst we are often able to rinse most of the colour bleed out with further cleaning, this is not always completely effective.

  • Discounts or offers are only applied when you bring your clothes IN, not retrospectively on collection.  Only one offer is valid per transaction.

  • It is standard practice to pin garments to hangers where necessary once cleaned and pressed e.g. skirts and trousers hung long from the waist (usually ladies).  If you do not want this done then you must state this clearly on booking your work in.  Please note that not pinning may, however, result in an inferior finish to the garment where extra folds may be necessary.

  • Although we always do our best, we can't guarantee to remove all stains: nevertheless payment in full is still required as we will have spent considerable time and effort in trying to rejuvenate the item.

  • Service washes: please ensure that the items you want to include in your service wash can all be washed together; avoid mixing colours and whites as if your wash is small they will, for economy, get washed together - we will only endeavour to separate them if your wash is large enough for two or more loads. Please also make sure that all your items can be tumble dried as individual care labels within the garments will generally not be checked. Please check and empty any pockets before bringing your service wash in.

  • In the unlikely event of a claim against our company, the age and condition of the garment will be taken into account when setting compensation levels.

  • We will only keep clothes/items for a period of 6 months, after which time the item will be disposed of.  We will of course make every effort to contact owners before resorting to this.

  • Please be aware that there are separate information and consent forms for the cleaning of leathers/suedes and curtains/loose covers, which you will be shown on checking your items in.

Assuring you of our best attention at all times
